Netflix app for Windows 8 released – a pleasure to use

Netflix just made their new Windows 8 touch optimized application available in the Windows App Store. I played with it for a few minutes and it is a pleasure to use – fast, fluid and also has captions!!! If you cannot see it right away, just open the store and search for it (move mouse on the right and click on the search symbol).

While the application is touch optimized, it works very well with a mouse. Now, if I would only have Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video, my HTPC running Windows 8 and the using Logitech keyboard from the now defunct Revue would be close to perfection. Sophos anti-virus signals all computers infected due to a false positive – Shh/Updater-B

Today every computer protected by Sophos Endpoint Security and Control Anti-virus started to simultaneously report infections with Spyware Shh/Updater-B in various applications like Google Update and Sophos itself due to an obvious false positive. Currently Sophos’ forums are swamped with complains and IT managers all over the world are reporting infections close to 100% (makes sense since most of the computers reporting infections have Sophos installed, which is reported as infected)

Virus/spyware ‘Shh/Updater-B’ has been detected in “C:\Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\ALsvc.exe”.

You can disable the reporting by disabling access scanning in Sophos. However, IT personnel all over the world are reporting thousand of e-mails and Continue Reading →

This makes it easier and easier to keep ourselves (and our kids) entertained. Let’s face it, today’s market is full of media players of all the sizes, shapes and capabilities, at various price levels. Every manufacturer is trying to differentiate somehow and HSTI is no exception.
