Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket Case / Cover Review – Diztronic Flexible TPU Case

Not too long ago both me and my significant other exchanged our shiny iPhone 4 devices for new Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket, the AT&T new 4G handsets. The problem was, same as with our iPhones, we needed some protection and since this particular modes is quite new, there are not too many cases designed specifically for them (AT&T sells only some Otter models in our local store and rather expensive).

Beside the need of protection, my wife complained that she doesn’t know which one is her phone and which one mine, and we need a way to differentiate them. We started to look around and we found some fairly cheap cases from Diztronic (specifically the Diztronic Matte Back Translucent Smoke Flexible TPU Case for Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and the Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case for Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. I got the smokey one, giving my wife the black one.

Priced at $9.90 both cases are rather cheap. For the price though, I was surprised to see how well they embraced our Skyrocket handsets and how light they feel (0.8 ounces). The wholes are very precise positioned including the ones for camera, USB, speaker, headphones, etc. The Volume buttons are actually covered by molded plastic, and they are not accessible through a hole,  but they still work just as well. One interesting benefit of having a case is also that it prevents accidentally pushing the Sleep/Volume buttons when the phone is in your pocket, an added advantage.

The case is not as slippery as the phone itself, so the device rests comfortable in your hand. The Diztronic edges are covering the edges just enough so it doesn’t let the Skyrocket slip out and add minimal thickness. The added margin over the edges will also enable you to put the phone face down without a risk of scratching it.

The material itself seems high quality, smooth but not soft. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it behaves down the road, but right now I am impressed. Check the photo gallery, I added a number of side by side photos so you see how much thickness the cases add to the phone.

Conclusion:

The best cases I have seen on a budget for Samsung Galaxy S2 / SII Skyrocket. Good quality material and precise manufacturing at under $10 makes Diztronic  Flexible TPU Case an ideal candidate if you are looking at good cases on the cheap. Recommended.
