Untetherd jailbreak redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 for iOS 4.3.1 available, iPad 2 out of luck for now

If you postponed upgrading to iOS 4.3.1 for the fear you’ll loose the ability to jailbreak your favorite toy, wait no longer. Untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 is here and supports iPhone3GS, iPhone4 (no Verizon for now because the Verizon iPhone 4 devices did not get 4.3.1 yet), iPod touch 3G, 4G, Apple TV and iPad1. unfortunately iPad 2 is not yet covered by this jailbreaking method as of now.

Why is this important? While this is not the first method to help jailbreaking the iOS 4.3.1 devices, is the first one to perform an untethered jailbreak. The difference is that the untethered method is permanent while the tethered jailbreak only lasts until you reboot your iPhone / iPad / Apple TV devices. After a reboot, you’ll need to apply it again.

The new jailbreaking method is released by iPhone DevTeam and it is based on the work performed by Stefan Esser, a security researcher from Germany.
