While it is not new, the behavior is most certainly annoying and resembles the one found in communist countries – censor and hide what embarrasses you and pretend it doesn’t exist. That is what Apple does with the threads from its own Apple Support Forums concerning negative Consumer Reports’s iPhone 4 review related to the disappearing reception when you hold your beloved toy the wrong way. And yes, of course it is your fault, you are just not being gentle enough with the greatest phone on earth (sarcasm intended). While I fixed my own iPhone 4 reception issues buying a case (which I would have bought anyway) I completely understand the consumer’s rage because the expensive toy is less perfect than advertised.
Going back to the censorship issue, Bing among all others, which is not renown by indexing and caching websites with the highest speed, gets the highest marks this time by keeping the missing threads in their cache (that is, until Apple issues a request to be removed). See for yourself here, and let’s take down our hats in front of Apple’s latest actions that suggest how helpful the above mentioned support threads really are…you can only find the info that you DON’T need when your device breaks.
